Cobb County Schools Music Department

Central Level Professional Development

CCSD sets county wide subject areas in-services each year. These in-services are mandatory. For specific dates, check the school calendar. If you must leave early or be absent, each employee must take the appropriate leave (short term or personal) through their local school and contact the appropriate supervisor of the situation.

If an in-service is held during the school day a substitute will be provided.

Meetings of band, chorus, orchestra directors, and elementary music specialists are held throughout the school year. All meetings are generally held monthly. It is impossible to “make-up” a missed meeting since most of the meeting consists of two-way interactions. The expertise we each possess and our willingness to share it is our most valuable resource. Attendance at these meetings is one of the expectations connected with middle and high school supplements.

Professional Learning Department

Staff development opportunities are offered through the staff development office. Periodically other workshops or opportunities for growth become available for teachers and can be given PLU (Professional Learning Unit) credit. For more information see the professional learning website.
