TITLE II-A

“Advancing Teacher Quality”

Title II-A funds are intended for professional development initiatives to improve teacher quality. Because these funds are granted to us under the No Child Left Behind federal law, the training should be targeted to narrow the achievement gaps between one or more of the following subgroups of students and all other students:

  • Poverty
  • Disabled
  • Race/Gender
  • LEP

Any professional development training funded with Title II monies should address student academic needs in one or more of the following areas:

  • Math
  • Science
  • Social Studies/Economics
  • Reading/Language Arts/English
  • Technology Integration

Applying for Title II-A Funds:

If your professional development plan requires funds over and above the state staff development funds (SFSD) or Title I funds available for staff development, you may submit an application for Title II Funds (see application). The application must provide quantifiable evidence of an existing student achievement gap, a plan for professional development using research-based strategies, a viable plan to monitor and measure student achievement and a thorough plan to evaluate teacher learning and implementation in the classroom.  If the application is approved through the collaborative approval/scoring process, Title II funds will be awarded to your school. The principal, Title II contact person, and school bookkeeper will be notified via email. At that time, additional information and instructions will be provided (charge codes, budget ledger, etc.).
