Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports (P.B.I.S.)

 PBIS is an evidence-based, data-driven framework proven to reduce disciplinary incidents, increase our school’s sense of safety, improve school climate, and support enhanced academic outcomes for all students.  This framework is established to arrange effective environments, and not to ‘fix’ students.  The overall goal for the staff is to arrange environments so additional supports are built into the way of life at school.  The overall goal for students is to work toward self-management.  The Dickerson expectations are listed below.

   

Leading By Example 

 

DICKERSON EXPECTATIONS

Dickerson students are… CAFETERIA HALLWAY RESTROOM LOCKER ROOM BUS
Proactive Get what is needed the first time. Only carry the required materials. Use the facilities and report any problems to an adult.  Lock up all belongings. Listen to the bus driver, and report any incidents.
Empathetic Seats are for sitting, not saving. Walk in lines and keep hands and feet to self. Respect the privacy of others at all times. Be courteous and respectful to all. Respect the space of other bus riders.
Active Learners Use the time given to eat a nutritious meal. Proceed to class in a timely and efficient manner. Complete the task and return to class. Dress out and participate every day. Board the bus promptly and stay seated while the bus is moving.
Self-Aware Use good table manners. Be cognizant of others. Wash your hands and leave the restroom clean. Keep hands, feet and comments to self. Use conversational voice and appropriate language.
Reflective Did I leave a clean area? Did I drop something? Did I clean up after myself? Do I have good hygiene? Do I have everything before I exit the bus?
