Dear Fair Oaks Families and Students;

Welcome Back!

I hope everyone had a peaceful, joyful, and relaxing holiday break! I am very excited to be entering the second half of my second year as principal at THE Fair Oaks Elementary School. The second half of the year seems to go by faster than the first part of the year. Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th-grade teachers will be working harder than ever as they prepare their students for the Georgia Milestones in April. Our goal this year is to make an 80 or higher on our CCRPI score, which will come out in October. With your help at home supporting your child, we should be able to reach this goal. As much as our upper-grade teachers are working hard, so are our Pre-K, K, 1st, and 2nd-grade teachers. Our lower grade teachers are the ones who start your child’s journey on the road to success in their educational journey. It is not an easy job, but we are fortunate to have the best teachers in all grade levels in Cobb and beyond.

As we do enter the second part of the school year, we must have perfect attendance as much as possible for all our students. We are currently behind in our student attendance compared to last year. Unless your child is genuinely sick, please make sure they are at school. Days out of school means learning is not taking place for them, and they will get behind. Education is the one area in which you do not want your student to play catch-up.

Lastly, we have been fortunate to have a parent-led PTA for the past two years. Unfortunately, our PTA parents will be leaving us after this year, and we will need a new president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer. If you are interested in becoming a PTA officer, please see Brianda, our current PTA president. I would hate not to have a parent-led PTA next year.

As always, thank you for your continuous support of our school.

Warmest Regards,

Dean Yoder
