We have many exciting activities planned for this school year. Some of these include: A fifth grade field trip (pending administrative approval), Student Council, special guest speakers, field trips that correlate to our educational objectives and many other ‘5th grade only’ activities.

As you know, this is the time that we begin preparing our students for the middle school challenges. For this reason, we feel that communication between school and parents is vital. Efforts to foster this goal are stated below:

Folders will be sent home each Week. Please check over these folders, as your child ’s work for the week will be enclosed. Tests and quizzes with a failing grade will need to be signed and returned the following school day.

Newsletters will be sent home every other week.

Student’s progress and any other concerns will be addressed during scheduled conferences in January, however, should you feel the need for a conference sooner please email your child’s teacher.

Several tests are given during the school year to measure progress. These include the CogAt and ITBS in September, The 5th Grade Writing Assessment Test in March and the Georgia CRCT in April/May. More information will be available as the test dates draw near.

Children may bring in snacks as long as they are healthy and not messy. We continue to work as we snack!!
