Georgia Milestones Assessment

Garrett Middle School will be testing 7th Grade students online during our upcoming Spring administration of the Georgia Milestones assessment. 6th and 8th Grades will test in paper and pencil format. The information below is provided to assist you and your student in becoming familiar with the features of online and standard testing.

  •  Experience Online Testing Georgia is a digital resource created to provide an opportunity for students to become familiar with the online testing platform. The website can be accessed through the following link:  http://www.gaexperienceonline.com/. This practice site does not require a log-in and is available 7 days a week. Importantly, this practice site is not designed as a “practice test” to measure a student’s knowledge of course content and scores will not be generated. It is intended to allow students to familiarize themselves with the online platform prior to testing.

  • Practice sessions will also be set up during the school day to provide students a similar opportunity to acquaint themselves with the online testing system.

  • Each grade level has a study guide that has been released by the DOE.  Please be sure to look at these documents.

- 6th Grade Study DOE Guide
- 7th Grade Study DOE Guide
- 8th Grade Study DOE Guide

  • Garrett teachers have prepared readiness packets for each student as Spring Break Assignments. These will be distributed before Friday, March 30th of this week.

If you have questions about our upcoming spring test administrations for Georgia Milestones, please contact Mr. John Chandler at 770-819-2466 x 058 or via email at john.chandler@cobbk12.org.

Garrett Students Perform at the Governor's Mansion

The Garrett Middle School Jazz Orchestra was invited to perform at the Governor's Mansion during this past winter break. They performed musical selections for guests who were touring the mansion. Sibling Transfers

Parents/guardians of a student who has a sibling already enrolled in a District school through an approved transfer may apply for a younger sibling to attend the same school in accordance with District Administrative Rule JBCD-R. This provision attempts to address siblings enrolled in different schools at the same time due to an approved transfer. A sibling is defined as a brother, sister, step-brother, or step-sister living in the same household and who otherwise meets the requirements for enrollment. The application window for the 2018-2019 school year will be open from January 4, 2018 through January 31, 2018. For more information about this opportunity, and for a link to the online application, visit http://www.cobbk12.org/generalinfo/transfers/schoolchoice.aspx.

CCRPI from the GaDOE

When the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) announced the College & Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) scores on December 8, district administrators noticed that specific information for calculating a portion of the score was not included in the released score for each middle school. Therefore, the middle school CCRPI scores showed an inaccurate drop across the district. The issue was immediately addressed on December 9 by the district with the GaDOE Accountability and Assessment Department and is currently being resolved.

Once the new data is incorporated into the recalculation, correct scores for CCSD middle schools will be released and published by the GaDOE at the end of January. Based on internal preliminary calculations by district administrators, the results show that the CCRPI score at every middle school, as well as the overall district score, will increase. The corrected scores will be issued by the State within the next 45 days.
