A yellow tag will be issued to
your student, please attach to his/her book bag.
This tag will assist Transportation Staff to quickly
identify that your student is 8 years old or
younger, which provides another safety net for
proper delivery of your child. The yellow tag
must remain on the book bag on the top strap and
visable to the driver at all times. Do not
write or remove the tag for safety purposes.

Cobb County Kindergarten
and New First Grade Registration
Kindergarten students must be five years old
on or before September 1st.
First grade students must be six years old
on or before September 1st.
Bring the following documents and information to HLES to register your child:
State law requires a certificate of immunization (form #3231) and a hearing,
dental and vision form (form #3300) available from physicians or the Cobb County Health Department.
Form #3300 Certificates must be dated within 12 months of the first day of school.
Proof of birth: A certified Birth Certificate, Military ID, Driver's License, Passport,
Adoption Record, a religious record authorized by a religious official, an official school transcript, or an
affidavit of age.

Two proofs of residency in school attendance zone.
Also needed are the names and phone numbers of persons who
may pick up your child if you cannot be reached, and the name
and phone number of your child's doctor. For further
enrollment/immunization information, please see the CCSD website
Students may receive a short screening in the first weeks of
school. Results from this screening help provide
information on your child's development.
2016-17 School Choice
The Cobb County School District is again offering School
Choice (HB 251 and SB10) transfers for the 2016-2017 school
year. Individual school capacity information and
applications will be available beginning February 1, 2016 on

The Cobb County School District’s Library Media
Education Department, in conjunction with Cobb
County Public Libraries, Smyrna Public Library, and
Marietta City Schools, has partnered with Scholastic
to participate in the Scholastic Summer Reading
Challenge again this summer.
Reading throughout the summer helps students
maintain learning gains made in school, and can help
them start the new school year off right.
In the summer of
students logged over 6 MILLION minutes
of reading, and represented 9 of the top 10
schools for number of minutes read in the entire
state of Georgia!
We encourage all students to keep those reading and
learning skills sharp by reading great books all

earn digital rewards, and learn about new books to
read. The contest opens May 9th.

Georgia Milestone Assessment Weights
You will need a GTID to login. You will
receive this from your child's homeroom teacher.

End of Grade Georgia Milestone Assessment in the spring of 2015.
These tests will measure your child's mastery of the skills and
content taught throughout the year. It is important for
your child to attend school each day and complete assignments to

New Student Enrollment/Student
Attendance Clerk, Ms. S. Brown, will process
all student withdrawals and new student enrollment Monday -
Thursday between 8:00am - 10:00am during the school year.
Fourth and Fifth Grade Parents
Cobb County 4th and 5th grade teachers have a new tool for
teacher gradebooks and parent information. Our new system,
Synergy, has a ParentVUE that allows parents to view student
gradebook information. In order to access this system, the
following steps are required by
the enrolling parent:
1. Complete the attached Acceptable Use Policy and User
Agreement form. Bring the form to Open House and present it
along with photo identification.
2. Receive your individualized Activation Key
3. Pick-up your Parent Vue Getting Started Guide.
4. Again forms may be completed and activation keys obtained at
Open House from 6:30pm-8:00pm or from 7:30am-3:00pm in the front office
beginning September 3rd - 30th, 2014.
**Grades will be available for parents to view on
September 11, 2014.

uniforms on Fridays. We would like to see everyone in their
school spirit shirts, but it is not required.
Transportation Changes - Any transportation mode
change must made in writing.

Students may begin arriving at 7:15 AM.
School starts at 7:50 AM. Students who are not present
by this time are tardy.
Morning announcements begin at 7:55 AM.
Buses begin loading at 2:15 PM.
Buses, daycare riders, car riders, and walkers are
dismissed at 2:20 PM.
ASP starts at 2:45 PM and ends at 6:00 PM.
