Leadership
Academies The application and
recommendation forms for the Cobb County School District (CCSD)
Leadership Academies are now online. Interested CCSD employees may
complete the online application by clicking on the link provided at
the end of this message. In addition to the online application,
applicants must submit a résumé to the Leadership Management
Office, Human Resources and give the recommendation form to
their principal, who will return it directly to Leadership
Management. Applicants must have the support of
their current principal and area assistant superintendent or central
office director/supervisor. All application
materials are due in the Leadership Management Office of Human
Resources no later than Friday, February 15, 2008.
There are three Cobb County School District Leadership Academies.
Leadership Academy I:
GOAL:
a) Introduction – Linking the Georgia School Keys to effective
leadership practices
b) Introduction of Cobb’s support systems for school leaders
MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY AT TIME OF APPLICATION:
• Applicants must meet the CCSD minimum eligibility requirements
for Assistant Administrator as listed on the
Leadership Management
website by July, 2008.

MEETING DATES:
• Participants will meet five (5) days during the summer (July 28,
29,
30, 31 & August 1), and three (3) days during the
school year.
Leadership Academy II:
GOAL:
a) Nuts and Bolts for school administration (Cobb and level
specific)
b) Linking Georgia School Keys to effective behaviors and practices
c) Practical application of decision analysis for school leaders
d) Extended training on the school leader’s role in supporting
standards-based instruction and
understanding school operations
MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY AT TIME OF APPLICATION:
• Current local school administrators (or equivalent central office
position)
• Applicants must meet the CCSD minimum eligibility requirements
for Assistant Principal as listed on the Leadership
Management
website.

MEETING DATES:
• Participants will meet two (2) days during the summer (July 14 &
15),
and seven (7) days during the school year
Leadership Academy III:
GOAL:
a) Individual assessment on NASSP School Leader Skills: Developing
the 21st Century Principal
b) Individual professional development plan to prepare for the
principalship
c) Advanced situational appraisal for school leaders
d) Advanced decision analysis for school leaders
e) Advanced application of effective behaviors and practices that
support proficiency of the Georgia School
Keys
f) Advanced training on the school leader’s role in ensuring
standards-based instruction and in understanding
effective school
operations
MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY AT TIME OF APPLICATION:
• Applicants must meet the CCSD minimum eligibility requirements
for Principal as listed on the Leadership
Management website.

• Participants will meet two (2) days during the summer (July 17 &
18),
and seven (7) days during the school year
Application Process:
• Complete the Cobb County School District Leadership
Academy
Application online.
• Send résumé to: Leadership Management, Human Resources,
514 Glover Street, Marietta, GA 30060 or email to
lee.morson@cobbk12.org
• Give the Recommendation Form to your principal. Principal will
complete and return the form directly to
Leadership Management.
Summary:
• Application materials (application, résumé
and
recommendation form) must be received in Human Resources,
Leadership Management office no later than
Friday, February 15, 2008.
• Candidates will be notified of their selection or non-selection
by end
of April.
• Human Resources reserves the right to place applicant in the most
appropriate leadership academy category.
