Eligibility Requirements

Principal
1. Master’s Degree
2. Valid Georgia Educational Leadership Certificate or eligibility for a
    Georgia Educational Leadership Certificate
3. Minimum of three (3) years successful experience in school
    administration and/or supervision in education

Assistant Principal
1. Master’s Degree
2. Valid Georgia Educational Leadership Certificate or eligibility for a
    Georgia Educational Leadership Certificate
3. Minimum of three (3) years successful educational experience

Assistant Administrator
1. Master’s Degree - if the master’s degree is not in the field of
    Educational Leadership, applicant must be enrolled in an approved
    Educational Leadership program and have completed a minimum of
    four (4) courses
2. Valid Georgia Educational Leadership Certificate or qualifying for one
3. Minimum of three (3) years successful educational experience

All of the above positions require demonstrated skills in leadership, instruction, communication (written and oral), interpersonal relations, and public relations.


Administrative Application Procedures

STEP 1: Application
1. Apply online.
2. Submit the requested documents:
    a. resume and
    b. copy of certificate

STEP 2: Screening
All applications are reviewed to determine if the applicants meet the minimum requirements for the position(s). Applications will have a status of “Incomplete” until a resume is received.

STEP 3: Reference Checking
Once Leadership Management receives your online application and resume, references are checked. References are sent to your current principal/supervisor and your former principal/supervisor. Your application will have a status of “Pending References” until both of your references are returned to our office.

STEP 4: Position Interviews
When a vacancy occurs, the hiring administrator selects applicants from among the qualified persons and conducts interviews. Applicants are interviewed in the school/division where the vacancy exists. After the interviews, the administrator makes an employment recommendation to the Leadership Management office of Human Resources.

STEP 5: Appointment
All persons are employed by official action of the Board of Education upon recommendation of the Superintendent.

STEP 6: Paper-Work Session
After official employment offers, new administrators are invited to a paperwork session to learn about the District and complete employment forms. New employees are required to have Georgia fingerprints on file with us prior to the start of employment.
