Tutoring Schedule

McClure offers tutorial help for students before and after school. Our tutoring program is free and available for all students. McClure teachers will provide extra focus on concepts that help students close learning gaps, study for tests, improve their grades, and help them prepare for the Georgia Milestones assessments. Attending tutoring regularly is extremely important. Your support and encouragement are vital for your child’s success. Students should be picked up no later than 5:30 p.m. following afternoon tutoring sessions. Students will no longer be able to participate in afternoon tutoring if he/she is not picked up on time after the second violation.

Feel free to contact Amy Shannon with any questions regarding the tutoring program.

SafeSchools Alert/School Safety

The Cobb County School District is dedicated to a comprehensive school safety effort, and the safety of our students and staff is our top priority. Our district has taken another very important step in safeguarding our school community by partnering with SafeSchools Alert, a tip reporting service that allows students, staff, and parents to submit safety concerns to our administration in several different ways:

  • App: Search for “SafeSchools Alert” in the App Store to download for free
  • Phone: 470.689.0298
  • Text: 470.689.0298
  • Email: 1760@alert1.us
  • SafeSchools Alert website

Each member of our school family can easily report tips on bullying, harassment, drugs, vandalism, threats of violence, or other safety issues of concern. When a tip is submitted, be sure to use the Cobb County School District identification code 1760 in your communication. Each tip submitted through SafeSchools Alert will be immediately logged and routed to the appropriate administrator to investigate and take appropriate action. To learn more about how we keep our schools safe, please visit Cobb Shield

Student Pick-up Safety

Our parking lot and the car rider line can be a little intimidating at first. Please take a minute to view the video above to see the proper procedure for picking up your student at the end of the day.

Cobb Shield

Cobb Shield is a CCSD initiative to help us keep each other safe. Our district is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for our students' learning. The Cobb Shield website provides information and resources for you to assist in this initiative.

Our staff holds an annual training session for how to prepare for a code red situation.  This year the district has created an information video for our students as well.  The video was played as a part of our morning announcements recently.  The video is titled "Keeping Each Other Safe," you can view the video as well by clicking here.  The video is designed specifically for middle and high school studentsl. Take the time to watch the video and familiarize yourself with the content. Please, be ready to have a serious discussion with your student(s) about school safety, and be prepared to answer some important questions. You may not have all the answers, but sometimes, just being willing to listen is the most important part of a conversation.

Cell Phone Policy

At McClure, we recognize the learning potential of students using their own devices during instruction, but with that potential comes the need for a great deal of responsibility and maturity. While cell phones can be an important tool for your student they can also become a distraction to learning.  We require all student cell phones, electronic devices, headphones, earbuds and airpods to be put away by students during school hours unless they are being used for an instructional activity.  Cell phones and electronic devices may only be used when a teacher allows it for instructional use.

The consequences for violating the policy will be as follows:

1st Offense: Student will receive a warning, and parents will be contacted.

2nd Offense: Student will lose their phone for the day, and parents will be contacted.

3rd Offense: Student will lose their BYOD privileges for the rest of the semester, parents will be required to pick up their child's phone from the office, and the student will receive an office referral.

Any student that does not have a BYOD sticker will have their phone taken away, and parents will be contacted. BYOD forms are part of the first day of school folder and must be returned before BYOD stickers are distributed.

School Safety Information

Our school district has been proactive in implementing numerous safety measures to increase the safety of our staff and students.  The safety of our students and staff has always been and will continue to be a priority.  Some of the measures that have been implemented include:

  • regularly scheduled code red drills

  • all employees have been trained on code red procedures using an award winning video

  • principals have been trained by the CCSD Safety and Security Department

  • "buzz in" door entry systems have been installed in all elementary and middle schools

  • video cameras throughout schools

  • one of the largest school police forces in the nation, serving all CCSD schools

  • our officers are post-certified (same training as CCPD) and fully equipped

  • alert point intruder system

Help Stop the Flu from Spreading

It looks like we are heading into another round of flu cases. Influenza (the flu) is an infection of the nose, throat, and lungs caused by influenza viruses. There areSTOP the Flu

many different influenza viruses that are constantly changing. Flu viruses cause illness, hospital stays and deaths in the United States each year. The flu can be very dangerous for children. Each year about 20,000 children younger than 5 years old are hospitalized from flu complications, like pneumonia.  The CCSD website has an information page with tips to help avoid catching and spreading the flu.

Food Finder

FoodFinderGA is a free smartphone app developed by a Georgia public school graduate. It is available on theApple App Store or Google Play right now (search: foodfinderga). The app creates a 100% anonymous, direct connection between students who need food with their closest free food provider.

Both the FoodFinderGA app and the website -www.foodfinderga.org - are year-round resources, but data shows a dramatic increase in use when school is out of session, and the need for food is greatest.
