Welcome To Mt. Bethel ES
"Excellence In Action"

Joan Johnson, Principal
Faith Harmeyer, Assistant Principal
Mission:
The mission of the Mt. Bethel Community is to lay the foundation for students to become
confident, responsible, life long global learners who are prepared to embrace the future
School Arrival
As a
reminder students should not arrive at school any earlier that 7:15 a.m. Our
teachers are not required to be at work before that time and we do not want
students to be unsupervised. For
the safety of your children, should you need to drop your student off prior
to 7:15 a.m. you will need to make other arrangements for proper care of
your child (neighbor, friend, daycare etc.)
Thank you for your cooperation.

CRCT: Important Changes
We
wanted to update you with some additional information concerning the CRCT
that will be administered to 3rd, 4th and 5th
graders on April 22 through April 26. It is important that your students are
well rested, have a healthy breakfast and arrive to school on time. Please
do not put pressure on your child regarding the test, rather encourage them
to do their best.
Due to implementation of the Common
Core Curriculum in Reading, Language Arts, and Math, new test items are
being added to the CRCT to align with this implementation.
Because the test will be changed from previous years, the CRCT will
undergo a standardization process that could change the minimum score
required for proficiency.
Currently students meet expectations on the CRCT with a minimum score of
800. This number could change up
or down due to this standardization process.
In addition, due to the increased rigor of this test, the state
predicts that student scores will decline on this first administration of
the test. Further information
regarding the CRCT is available at the GA DOE website,
http://www.doe.k12.ga.us/Curriculum-Instruction-and-Assessment/Assessment/Pages/CRCT.aspx.
As your child’s teacher(s)
continue to implement the Common Core Curriculum in Reading, Language Arts,
and Math, you should be noticing increased rigor in your child’s instruction
and materials. Future assessments are
being developed to include Performance Tasks requiring writing products as
well as online assessment. It is an
exciting time in education with increased accountability as well as
opportunities for students to learn in new and challenging ways.

and the Cobb County School District can be found at
