As evacuees of Hurricane Katrina make their way to metro
Atlanta and Cobb County, we hope they will take comfort in
knowing they are welcome in Cobb County schools.
Enrolling a child:
Enrolling a child is easy. With your child or children, please
visit the appropriate grade level school closest to your
location. Click here to find the
elementary,
middle and
high schools.
The administrative staffs at each school will assist you with
enrollment procedures. Children of all Hurricane Katrina
evacuees will be accepted. Documentation is not required
but will be helpful, including birth certificates, Social
Security cards and immunization records. Please bring this
information if available.

Relief efforts:
Many in the school district community have asked how they can
assist with relief efforts. Local and national leaders
continue to advise us to send money to the American Red Cross,
Salvation Army, or other relief agency in order to provide
assistance to the Hurricane Katrina victims.
There are many local agencies helping these victims. CCSD
School Social Workers provide the attached list of contacts:
1. Sweetwater Valley CAMP is providing food and
clothes Monday through Friday from 9am to 1pm and Saturdays
9am to noon. Their number is 770-819-0662. Donations of
diapers, formula, baby food, clothes and non-perishable foods
are appreciated. They are located at 6289 Veterans Memorial
Highway, Building 12, Austell, GA 30168.

2. American Red Cross can help with shelter. Call 404-876-3302.
3. MUST, Marietta is giving away food and clothes daily from
10 a.m. - 2 p.m. They also have a hot lunch at noon for anyone
who is hungry (Monday-Friday) at 55 Elizabeth Church Rd.,

Ministries Conducts Job Fair
MUST Ministries is hosting a Job Fair for victims of
Hurricane Katrina now in our community. Job
opportunities will be available in various career
fields, including Administrative Support, General Labor,
and Industrial/Manufacturing. Those interested need to
bring two (2) forms of ID and a resume or hand-written
3-year work history.
Where: MUST Smyrna Front Lobby, 460 Pat

When: Saturday, Sept. 10
Time: 9 a.m. - 12 noon
Because this job fair is being hosted specifically for
the storm victims, please be prepared (if possible) to
provide proof of past residency from areas affected by
the storm. |
