The Cobb County Public Schools Educational Foundation has
announced the 30 recipients of its 2006 academic scholarships.
The Foundation awards $1,000 scholarships annually to two
seniors at each of the Cobb County’s 15 high schools. The
awards are based on academic achievement, school and community
involvement, and outstanding displays of leadership.
Cobb seniors apply for the Foundation
scholarship in early spring and are required to include a
letter of recommendation from a school staff member or
community leader, academic transcripts, and documentation of
extracurricular or community service involvement.

“It’s great to see the opportunities that
the Educational Foundation is creating for our students and
staff,” said Superintendent Fred Sanderson. “These
scholarships are not only rewarding these students for their
outstanding work, but opening doors to their future academic
success.”
Sheri Brante, executive director of the
Foundation, said, “What’s exciting about these scholarships is
that we are recognizing phenomenal students who will impact
the future of this community. The Foundation is a vehicle to
celebrate the great things going on in Cobb County schools and
allow the community to participate in that success.”
Established in 1999, the Cobb County Public
Schools Educational Foundation is a non-profit charitable
organization dedicated to supporting, rewarding and enhancing
the schools, staff and students of the Cobb County School
District. In addition to the academic scholarship program, the
Foundation sponsors teacher IMPACT grants for innovative ideas
in the classroom, as well as providing after-school program
scholarships for students in need. The Foundation is supported
entirely by contributions from the public and business
