Frequently Asked Questions

Who is considered a “teacher”? Am I eligible to receive a laptop?

The definition of a "teacher" for the laptop initiative is a certified staff member who is in a classroom with students more than half the day. The following staff members are NOT eligible to receive a laptop: counselors, media specialists, administrators and parapros.

When will we receive the laptops?

Likely in early May, which would give teachers the summer to acquaint themselves with their new teaching tools.

Will I get a Dell or an Apple?

That depends on the technology focus of your school and whether it is PC-centric or Mac-centric. The school principal and staff will make that determination collaboratively.

What kind of training do I have to take? Is it mandatory?

In order to be issued a laptop, you will be required to participate in a two-hour training session conducted by Dell and Apple technicians. The training will take place at the same time you pick up your laptop at a school within your feeder pattern area.
