Several changes to the Cobb County School
District 2007-08 school year calendar were presented to and
approved by the Board of Education during its May 24 meeting.
The changes respond to requests made by school administrators
across the District and also adjust to recently released
statewide testing schedules. Changes to the 2007-08 school
year calendar are as follows:
• The Thursday, Oct. 18 Early Release Day has
been moved one day back to
Wednesday, Oct. 17.
• The Friday, Oct. 19 Student Holiday/Teacher Workday/Inservice
Day has been
moved to Monday, Nov. 5.
• Monday, Nov. 5 and Tuesday, Nov. 6 are now consecutive
Student Holidays /
Teacher Workdays.
• Elementary and Middle School Conferences have been moved
from Oct. 22-26
to Jan. 22-25 and Jan. 28, 2008. This change to conference week was
made in
response to requests from elementary schools across the District.
• Due to state scheduling of the 5th Grade Writing Assessment,
the March 5, 2008
Early Release Day has been moved to Tuesday, March 4.
• Finally, an additional Early Release Day has been scheduled
for Wednesday,
Feb. 6, 2008.
