About Norton Park Elementary
Norton Park Elementary School employs the latest research based strategies so that all students can be successful. Norton Park challenges
students by holding them accountable to the rigor of the Common Core Georgia Performance Standards in English Language Arts and Math as well as the
Georgia Performance Standards in Science and Social Studies.
We utilize an instructional framework that allows for a mini lesson, student work time, and a time for students to summarize their learning in
all subject areas. This allows teachers to teach using research based strategies, students to have time to practice what they are learning, as
well as time for students to explain the focus of the day.
A Culturally Diverse Community
Norton Park Elementary School is located in Smyrna, Ga., a suburban community in the northwest Atlanta metro area. It is one of 68 elementary
schools in the Cobb County School District. The school has a culturally diverse population with an enrollment of over 800 students.
Teachers and staff work collaboratively to build a framework for understanding cultural values and to create an open community where family and friends are
welcome. They also strive to provide excellence in instruction, a safe, supportive environment, and respect for all.
Learning is valued and celebrated in our school.
