Students interested in attending Oakwood must:
- Reside in a Cobb County Board of Education attendance zone.
- Have completed the 9th grade school year (9th
grade subjects are not offered at Oakwood).
- Be 16 years old or older.
- Not be on suspension or expulsion from any school.
- Provide their own transportation.
- Enroll at the beginning of any session but may only return to their
home school at the beginning of the 1st or 2nd
semesters.
- Pay a $60.00 book deposit.
- Attend a student/parent orientation.
Oakwood’s calendar consists of four 9 week sessions and offers 4 class
periods per day. An open campus school has no minium class day requirements.
Students have the option of attending one or all four periods
(Don't Forget There Is An Attendance Policy) and attending all
sessions. With this schedule, students may earn as few as 2 credits or up to
8 credits per year. The school year at Oakwood begins and ends on the same
date as the other Cobb County schools. The same holidays are observed.
However, teacher workdays are different.
