We have a
Drill Team, Color
Guard, Raider and a Rifle Team. Cadets have the opportunity to participate in one or a combination of these
major competitive activities. During
the school year, these teams have the opportunity to compete against teams
within the Cobb County Schools system and other Junior ROTC programs
outside of this area. The annual competition includes both Citywide and State
events.
The Drill Teams and Color Guards not only complete in competitive
events, but also routinely participate in an array of community supports
activities by performing at parades, football games, baseball games,
special events and social functions.
As
members of these teams, cadets who participate in competitive events must
meet the State Quality Basic Education (QBE) standards.
The JROTC program takes academics very seriously and vigorously
enforces the QBE standards.
DRILL TEAM
Drill Teams may be composed of all males, all
females, or mixed (male/females). Drill
teams of each of the school/units develop and personalize their own unique
drill sequences. There are
two types of drill routines that the teams may prepare for competition.
These are Regulation Platoon Drill and Exhibition Drill.
Regulation Platoon Drill has a set sequence of movements that must
be executed in a predetermined step-by-step format.
Exhibition Drill is just the opposite whereby the teams are given
the latitude to put together their own drill routine for showmanship.
