Second Wind Dreams Cheerleader!!
Friday, September 26th, Second Wind Dreams and Pope High
School’s cheerleading squad made a cheerleading dream
come true for an elder of the East Cobb community. This
dream fulfillment took place during the 7:30 p.m. home
football game. Lynn, the 85-year-old dreamer and
resident of Arbor Terrace of East Cobb, cheered
alongside the school’s cheerleaders during the game’s
first half. Lynn escorted the school’s mascot around
during the “dog walk.” In preparation of game day, Pope
High school cheerleaders visited Lynn at her residence
to teach her multiple cheers on Tuesday, September 23rd.

Dress Code Enforcement Update:
Dear Pope High School Community,
As our student scholars are well
underway to a successful school year, we want to
maintain the pursuit of excellence in academics as well
as post-graduate preparation. Dressing for success is
just as imperative as good grades and community
involvement. Toward this goal, the Pope staff plans to
more vigorously and systematically reinforce Cobb County
School District dress code policy in order to ensure the
safety, security, and success of our students. Parents
and students, please be sure to check for the following
dress code regulations to ensure appropriate attire for
a successful school day. Dress code regulations include,
but are not limited to, the following:
Ladies’ tops should not expose cleavage, midriff, or
undergarments and should have straps wider than
“spaghetti straps” (at least 2 fingers’ width).
Ladies’ shorts, skirts, and dresses should be fingertip
length or longer.
Spandex pants, yoga pants, and leggings are only
admissible if the top or blouse is fingertip length or
Men (or ladies, for that matter) may not wear hats,
tanks, or bottoms that expose underwear.
Please be aware that we will begin
enforcing the dress code more strictly on the morning of
Monday, October 6. Students who are not
dressed for success will be required to wait in the ISS
(In-School Suspension) classroom until someone can bring
them a change of clothes. Also, please note that special
days, such as Spirit Days or assemblies such as Who’s
Who, are NOT exempt from the District’s dress code
Please refer to the Cobb County
School District Parent Information Guide for a
complete Dress Code Policy and enforcement guidelines.
appreciate your support in ensuring that our students
are dressed appropriately!
Picture Retakes Thursday for Grades 9-11
Any student that would like to have a

the cafeteria in the Main Street hallway. You may
prepay for your student’s picture by going to the
Lifetouch website and using school code
This is the last chance for underclassmen to
have their Yearbook photos taken. If students do
not have a school picture taken, they will not appear in
the student photo section of the yearbook.

Governor's Honors Info-Oct 1
The Governor’s Honors Program is a
residential summer program for gifted and talented high
school students who will be rising juniors and seniors
during the program. The program offers instruction that
is significantly different from the typical high school
classroom, and that is designed to provide students with
academic, cultural, and social enrichment necessary to
become the next generation of global critical thinkers,
innovators, and leaders.
GHP is held in mid-summer as a
residential educational experience on a college or
university campus. Students attend classes in the
mornings and afternoons in specific areas of study, and
they participate in a wide variety of social and
instructional opportunities every evening. Meals and
rooms are provided by the program with the only
required/expected costs to the students being travel
expenses to/from the interviews, a few basic school
supplies, basics for their dorm rooms, and spending
money as desired during the program.
Students interested in GHP should
attend an informational meeting on October 1 in the
theatre at 2:15. Please see Mrs. Dahlberg in room
212 for information.
NEW PARKING REGULATIONS
Starting this year, Pope will have designated
Parking areas. We will not assign
specific parking spots, but any parking area that is
is designated as teacher parking, and students who park
in the teacher sections will be ticketed. Thank you for
your cooperation and attention to this new policy.
Pope wins the Director's
For the first time ever, The
Georgia Athletic Directors Association awarded Pope High
School its Directors Cup, an award given annually to a
high school in each sporting classification for having a
superior athletic program. Pope was also granted the
boys’ Directors Cups (girl's took third overall) and the
Region Sportsmanship Award, the latter of which stands
as a reflection of the behavior of players, coaches, and
fans in the entire school community.
