We encourage all levels of English students to read over the summer and winter breaks. Continued reading offers an opportunity for students to establish a broad literary foundation and exercise independent reading and thinking skills. As students grow and mature, they need to practice their reading skills continually to increase their ability to comprehend more complex texts required for college and/or careers. While early reading skills are basic, when students grow older, they need selections that stimulate their imaginations, improve their thinking skills, and enhance their vocabulary development.

Required Reading and Assignments for 9-12 Honors and AP Courses for the upcoming 2014-2015 school year:

Assignments for each required book at each grade level will be due on the second day of class each semester.  Instruction will begin each semester with these books; it is essential that students have a copy of their required book beginning the first day of class.

Honors 9th Grade Literature and Composition
Honors World Literature and Composition
Honors American Literature and Composition
AP Language and Composition
Honors British Literature and AP Literature

Allatoona High school is in need of community volunteers to help serve as greeters for the school. We have instituted a welcome desk in the front foyer in order to greet, assist, and identify guests visiting our school. Volunteers at the desk will serve as greeters for our school issuing visitors' passes and offering assistance as needed.  Thank you in advance for helping make our school a welcoming and safe environment.

We're using VolunteerSpot (the leading online signup and reminder tool) to organize our volunteer signups..
