Greetings from Mrs. Hanauer, Principal:

Dear Due West Community,

Due West is Golden says it all.  I am embracing the opportunity to lead a top performing Cobb County school that has strong teachers, high achieving students, and active parents.

I am a product of the Cobb County School District attending East Valley, East Cobb and Wheeler.  After graduating from UGA with a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education and a Masters degree in Early Childhood, I began teaching in Cherokee County.  I have worked for nineteen years in the CCSD in five different schools.  As a classroom teacher, I’ve taught kindergarten, first, third, Special Education and EIP.  My administrative experiences were at Brumby, Ford and East Side.  After twenty-six years in education, I can honestly say that working with increasing student achievement is a wonderful job.

Family is a word at the top of my list.  It says who I am.  My husband, Jeff, is in the health care industry and works in management.  He’s an avid Georgia Tech fan.  Whitney, my daughter, will be a junior at Florida State studying business.  She cheers for the Seminoles and is true to the garnet and gold.  I am a Georgia fan and love college football.  I attend games at all three colleges but will never be labeled a Tech cheerleader.

The focus for my first year at Due West will be to continue cultivating the positive school culture, giving consistent and clear communication, and providing a challenging curriculum.  Together, WE will ensure that our students learn in a caring and sharing environment that promotes each child’s personal growth.  My office door is always open.  With the current construction at Due West, I have been working from different schools.  If you should need me please use email.

Sincerely,

Cynthia N. Hanauer

Greetings from Dr. Fausett, Assistant Principal:

Dear Due West,

What an honor to be called to serve this school celebrating its 50th year of learning in the Cobb County School District!  Due West is a great school with a reputation of high achieving students, dedicated teachers and staff, and dynamic parental and community involvement.  I am excited about the opportunity to work with the outstanding students, teachers, staff, parents, and community who all encompass the Due West Family.

Cobb County is where I began my career in education back in 1985 after earning a Bachelors degree in Music (piano) from Shorter College and a Masters in Education degree from GSU.  I have taught first, second, third, and EIP in three elementary schools.  I have also served as the Instructional Lead Teacher in three schools.  During these years of teaching, I went on to earn my Specialist in Education Degree from UGA in School Administration.

In 2000, I had the opportunity to serve at the District level as an Instructional Technology Specialist.  My administrative experiences have been at Rocky Mount and, most recently, for the last six years as Assistant Principal at Davis Elementary.

On a personal note and as a native Atlantan, this is the only place I want to be!  I grew up on the Southside; and my parents, brother, sister-in-law, and three wonderful nephews all live in Peachtree City. I currently reside in Roswell.

A wise Principal and mentor once told me, “The path is the goal.”  This statement has become even more meaningful to me as this past February I fulfilled a lifelong personal and professional goal by completing my Doctorate Degree.  Now Due West has become the next step on my path.  I strive to serve you well.  I am certainly looking forward to the journey.

Sincerely,

M. Diane Fausett
