Mission Statement

The mission of the Sope Creek Elementary Library Media Program is to provide a program which functions as the information center of our school, to assist students in becoming effective users of ideas and information, to promote a love of reading and research, and to encourage the development of lifelong learners and readers.

Sope Creek Library Media Center Goals

Goal 1:  

The Library Media Center will provide an up-to-date collection of books and materials that meets the needs of the curriculum and encourages reading for information and pleasure.

Goal 2:

The Library Media Center will communicate and promote collaboration with all stakeholders in order to enhance the curriculum and maximize students achievement.

Goal 3:

The Library Media Center will provide maximum access to its resources and facilities using SACS standards and state and local policies as a guide.

Objectives:

1)     Evaluate and weed current collection

2)     Determine areas of need according to curriculum and/or awards

3)     Develop purchase priorities

4)     Purchase and catalog new materials

5)     Inform school community of new materials available for checkout and use

Objectives:

1)     Increase communication between library and faculty, students, and community

2)     Provide access to school wide curriculum map

3)     Create and maintain Library Media webpage

Objectives:

1)     Evaluate current use of Library (and anticipate changes due to construction)

2)     Determine access needs of students and staff as well as the school community

3)      Create and maintain a schedule of Library Media checkout and instruction
