About Us

The Project

We are developing robots to navigate a mock Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) course. These robots will be remotely controlled using a color wireless camera as the sole source of navigation.

The scenario requires that victims of a building collapse be located and identified. Limited details have been provided regarding the floor plans and the existing lighting will be from fair to poor. The "victims" are 3" figurines that have been modified to resemble familiar faculty at WHS.

The People

Our students are enrolled in Advanced Physics Principles and Robotics at Wheeler High School (WHS) in Marietta, GA. This course was created specifically for The Center for Advanced Studies in Math, Science and Technology magnet program at WHS and is open to all WHS students that have met the prerequisites.

This course was developed as a Post-AP course to follow Advanced Placement Physics that would apply the students knowledge of mechanics to the field of engineering, specifically with regard to robotics.
