Long-Term
Objectives
SpeedBot
We talked about SpeedBot on Friday. You
should have a good idea of how it works but here is an abbreviated recap.
- Robot should be able to navigate a fairly
simple 15 meter long course (49 floor tiles, just shy of 15 m)
- The green tape line is the start, the black
tape line is the finish (sorry, can't find my red tape for the start)
- The exact location of the wall between the
start and finish line will not be known
- The wall on the right will be the closest to
the starting position and will be made from the shorter of the two boards
- The walls will be parallel and separated by a
distance of 12 inches
- Your time will be recorded by starting the
stopwatch when you press the button on your robot and stopping it when your
program finishes
- Your robot must stop by itself after crossing
the finish line
- There are natural obstacles in the hallway. The only ones that may end up being relocated are
any benches on the right side of the hallway beyond the turn
If you move a bench in the hallway, you
should pick it up to move it.
Do not scratch up the floors just because you are too puny to lift a 25 pound
bench!
hint: try your robot
with the walls at several different locations
