Congratulations to Wheeler Grad Reggie Witherspoon for making the Olympic Track and Field team.

Congratulations to Katy Wood, 2008 Wheeler High School and Center for
Advanced Studies Graduate for being named the the recipient of the third
annual ITT National Award for Excellence in Student Water Journalism, in
recognition of her exploration of the Southeastern water shortage in an
article titled, "A Lack of Lakes: Georgia Water Crisis".

As part of the award, Katy Wood and her journalism faculty advisor, Sarah
Wheatley, will receive a trip to Stockholm, Sweden to attend and report from
the 2008 Stockholm Water Symposium, which takes place during World Water
Week from August 17 through August 23. Katy will also receive a $1,000
scholarship from ITT, which she will use to attend Duke University starting
this fall.
Congratulations Katy and Mrs. Wheatley!!!

Students/Parents should:
  • Find your homeroom on the posted list.
  • Pick Up Your Class Schedule.
  • Pay your Class Dues and get your 2008-2009 class T-shirt.
  • Order Your Yearbook, The Roar.
  • Get Your Activity Card (great discounts, free admission to several school events).
  • Buy Your Athletic Pass (free admission to ALL Wildcat regular home games).
  • Join Clubs.
  • Join Academic Booster Club (ABC).
    • Get your Blue Book.
    • Get Mock SAT/ACT information (see below for more details).
  • Join PTSA. Yes, even students!
    • Pay Dues. Make Donation.
    • Purchase Calendar & Directory
  • Sign up for Sports at the athletic tables.
  • Purchase Wheeler Spirit Wear – car magnet, T-shirts etc.
  • Pick Up Parking Permits. Look Up Bus Routes.
Parents Should Also:
  • Sign Up to Receive Catalyst (school newspaper) at home.
  • Prepay Student Lunches
All Freshmen Should Also:
  • Take the Freshman Tour at 5:00.
  • Go to Freshman Orientation at 6:00.
  • Then Proceed to Cafeteria to participate in Wildcat Daze activities & signups.
Magnet Students/Parents Should Also:
  • Make Annual Donation to Magnet Foundation
  • Freshmen-Pick Up Information Packet at the Magnet Foundation Table.
  • Sign Up for Magnet Enews

Parent Volunteers are needed the first week of school to make sure the year starts off great for all Wheeler Wildcats!!

SAT Prep Class returning this fall.
Please sign up via the website and/or at Wildcat Daze. The cost is $195.00, which includes all your materials and six weeks of instruction (3 math, 3 verbal) on Sunday afternoons starting August 17th. The class is limited to 40, so sign up soon. We are targeting the Oct 5th SAT testing date. Taking the test early in the fall leaves plenty of time to take a second test if needed. Wheeler Academic Booster Club (ABC) is gearing up for the 2008 – 2009 school year.
ABC sponsors Enews as a way to update our Wheeler Family on a weekly basis about important activities and events at Wheeler High School. Join Enews to get weekly updates covering everything that is going on through ABC, PTSA and Magnet Foundation. You should periodically check our web site at http://www.wheelerabc.org/. You can also find us by visiting http://www.wheelerhigh.com/; go to the Community Link and click on Wheeler Academic Booster Club to view all the information about ABC’s programs including SAT/ACT testing information, Mock SAT/ACT, SAT Prep Classes, Junior/Senior Night, AYP Support, AP Incentives, College Fair Support, Student Recognition (Academic Letter, Principal’s Honor Roll, Honor Roll, CATS Award) ABC Student Scholarships, Teacher Recognition (Above and Beyond Awards), and our Membership program that financially supports all of our programs. We welcome everyone to join Wheeler ABC to help sponsor all of these programs that enrich and promote the academic success of all students throughout the entire school.

Mock SAT
Wheeler ABC will be hosting a Mock SAT on Saturday, September 6th from 8:45 am – 1:00pm in the Auditorium.

PTSA Needs You!
If you have an interest in serving on Wheeler PTSA and getting involved to help Wheeler be the best it can be, please contact Co Presidents Angie Delvin-Brown at adelvinb@bellsouth.net or Zoe Howard at zoehoward@bellsouth.net. We want you!

PTSA will again be collecting supplies for teachers' classrooms this year and for the school nurse.

Everyone who donates will be eligible for a drawing for free Wheeler spiritwear or other great items. Please bring the following to Wildcat Daze and drop off at the PTSA table. Many thanks!

individual packages of Peanut Butter /Snack crackers

bandaids and sterile gauze

2008-09 Yearbooks and Senior Ads
The 2008 Yearbooks are $95 but you can save almost 40% for the price of $60 if you order on or before Wildcat Daze on August 7! Quantities are limited at this price, so don't miss your chance to save. This is not your parent's yearbook - 300 pages, all-color, award winning yearbook. It just doesn't get any better.

2008/2009 Price Increase Schedule:
