Student Online Orientation

All Cobb Virtual Academy students must complete an online Student Orientation in the Cobb County School District Learning Management System, Blackboard.  Students who register online will be given login information within five (5) days of registration so that they may complete the mandatory online Student Orientation and start their courses.  Students who do not complete the online Student Orientation by the date and time listed below will be withdrawn from their online course without a refund. 

Online Orientation

Personal Fitness (BPE) Students - DUE by Sunday, August 16th, 2009, midnight

All Other Students - DUE by Monday, August 24th 2009, midnight

Students who enroll during late registration must complete all requirements of the Student Orientation during the registration session.

Health Requirements

All Health students are required to take Adult CPR through a Red Cross or American Heart Association certified program. Cobb Virtual Academy offers CPR Certification as part of the CVA Health course. CPR Certification is made up of two parts:  content and skills test. The content portion of CPR will be presented online. The CPR Skills Test must be held in a face to face setting. Students must complete the content portion of CPR before attending the CPR Skills Test. The CPR Skills Test date, time and location are listed below. Parents may not attend the CPR Skills Test for the student.  Students need to dress appropriately in workout clothes. There are NO MAKEUPS for the Health CPR Skills Assessment and/or Final Exam.

Students who are currently CPR certified may fax a copy of their certification card to Cobb Virtual Academy at 770-514-3892 by noon on the last day of online registration. 

Waiver Form :  Students may also choose to take Adult CPR through a Red Cross or American Heart Association certified program at their own cost. Students who choose to take CPR on their own must complete a Cobb Virtual Academy CPR Waiver Form and fax (770-514-3892) it to the Cobb Virtual Academy Office by noon on the last day of online registration.  

Proof of CPR Certification Deadline:  Proof of CPR certification must be received in the Cobb Virtual Academy Office by noon on the last business day before the start of Cobb Virtual Academy final exams.  The proof of CPR certification must be faxed to the Cobb Virtual Academy office at 770-514-3892. Cobb Virtual Academy will not accept proof of CPR certification after the deadline.

Personal Fitness Requirements

In addition to completing the online Student Orientation, all Cobb Virtual Academy Personal Fitness students must participate in the face to face Pre-Fitness Test and Polar Heart Rate Training as listed below.  At this session, students will receive Polar heart equipment, learn how to wear and workout with the equipment, download the software, and upload the Polar heart monitor data to the Healthy Schools website.  Parents may not attend for the student.  Students need to dress appropriately in workout clothes and shoes. Students who do not attend the Pre-Fitness test on the date and time scheduled by Cobb Virtual Academy will be withdrawn from their course without a refund. There are NO MAKEUP'S for the Personal Fitness Pre-Test or Post-Test and/or Final Exam.

All Personal Fitness students must participate in the Post-Fitness Test as listed below.  Students will complete a Post-Fitness Test and return all Polar heart rate equipment.  Parents may not attend for the student.  Students need to dress appropriately in workout clothes and shoes.

 Final Exams/EOCT (see scheduled date, time, and location below)

 Students are required to take final assessments administered as scheduled below. There are NO MAKEUP'S for EOCTs or Final Exams.

Students taking Final Exams/EOCT must bring a picture id: drivers license, CCSD student id, yearbook, etc. No electronic devices (cell phones, PDAs, iPods, etc.) are allowed in the test administration area.  If you are taking a mathematics course, check with the instructor about the type of calculator (if any) that you may use. Time limitations are placed on final assessments so students need to arrive 10 to 15 minutes before the time of the test administration.  Students who arrive late will not be admitted.
