Introduction:

A community is defined as a group of people living in the same locality and under the same government. People usually choose where they want to live based on the location, types of jobs, and goods and services provided.

Task:

You and a partner will explore either Acworth or Kennesaw, Georgia to find facts about that community.

Activities:

Using one of the web sites listed above, find out the following information about that community:
1.  What are some places to visit in this community?
2.  Give a brief history of how and why this community was settled in this area.
3.  What types of goods or services does this community provide?
4.  What types of jobs are available in this community?
5.  List some of the government positions and the names of those leaders.

Evaluation:

When you are an adult, would you choose to live in this community?  Why or why not?

Conclusion:

Many people feel a sense of pride about the community in which they live.  How do you feel about the community in which you live?
