  Cougar Cable News

Cougar Cable News is the daily morning news broadcast produced,
directed, and anchored by our fifth-grade students.  The broadcast includes daily announcements, student and staff birthdays, and Word of the Week reflections.  Each homeroom in the school is responsible for leading the pledge during the school year.  Fourth grade students prepare and deliver a daily weather forecast with the help of Wendell the Weather Bear.  Every student at Kemp has the opportunity to appear "live" on the news at some point during the school year.

A broadcast team of eight students rotates through the five production jobs during a three-week period.  The students have opportunities to be a producer, news anchor, camera person, sound and video mixer or teleprompter operator.  Students train each other in the different areas.  Each morning, the news team writes the anchors' scripts, sets up the studio area, and prepares the audiovisual equipment for broadcast.  The crew is supervised by Mrs. Baroni and Ms. Mullen.
