Notice how he is touching my arm (and I am loving every minute of it).

I am Emily Adams and I teach physical education at Kennesaw Elementary in Kennesaw, Georgia. I have Bachelors and Masters degrees  from The University of Georgia.  I completed  my Specialist degree at the State University of West Georgia.  I received the honor of Teacher of the Year for Kennesaw Elementary for the 2001-2002 school year.  I also was named Cobb County and Georgia's Elementary P.E. Teacher of the Year as well as the National Jump Rope For Heart Coordinator of the Year in 2002.  I have been teaching since 1993.  I am one of our school's Jump Rope For Heart coordinators as well as Georgia's State Coordinator for Jump Rope For Heart.  Kennesaw Elementary has a tradition of  huge success with Jump Rope For Heart.  When we were a K-5 school our top year for JRFH was the 2000-2001 school year when we raised raised $60,797  for the American Heart Association!  Now that we are a K-2 school our top year for JRFH is the 2007-2008 school year when we raised $46,622.  We have a tradition of having many staff members and parent volunteers.  This is always a true community effort.  We have been one of the top schools in the state of Georgia and the Greater SouthEast Affiliate of the American Heart Association.  We are the top K-2 JRFH money raising school in the United States.

The kids at Kennesaw Elementary come to PE every other day.  We cover a large variety of skills, games, and activity units.  Examples of things the kids learn in PE are:  personal space, cooperatives, hand eye coordination, kicking & soccer, jump rope skills, balance, tumbling, gymnastics, ball handling, hula hoops, rhythms, striking, modified volleyball, four square & hopscotch, and diamond games.  In the spring we have three days of field days (one day for each grade level).  Opening Ceremonies led by selected 2nd graders kick off our field days.  Kids are encouraged to show good sportsmanship at the games.

The Kennesaw Grasshoppers are our jump rope team.  These 19 kids have practice once a week.  They get to perform at the KBA luncheon, the PE Show for PTA, the Kennesaw-Big Shanty parade and Festival in the spring, and at Opening Ceremonies for field days.  These kids not only have great jump rope skills, they show great character every day.

I have discovered the wealth of information available on the Internet. I have tried to locate some valuable resources other P.E. teachers might enjoy.

Thank you for visiting my site.
