Jennie Collier-Johnston

Jennie Collier-Johnston holds National Board
Certification in Early Adolescent/Young Adult Art, a Masters in Art
Education from West Georgia State, a Bachelor of Fine Arts in
Drawing from the University of Florida, and is currently completing
a Doctorate in Teacher Leadership from Walden University. Ms.
Collier-Johnston is a certified Teacher Support Specialist and
Pathwise Mentor that enjoys mentoring first year teachers and Art
Education student teachers from both Kennesaw State and Georgia
State University.
Having taught art in Cobb County since 1987, Ms.
Collier-Johnston has kept student artwork showcased throughout her
school as well as at the Kaleidoscope Art Show, Federal Reserve Art
Show, National Middle School Association Conference, Atlanta Olympic
Art Exhibit, and in the South Cobb community. As well as being an
active freelance artist, she has sponsored an Art Club and/or Mural
Club, Multi-Cultural Club and has been a Peer-Mediation Advisor. Ms.
Collier-Johnston has been a judge for Governors Honors, written
Picasso art curriculum and exemplary lesson plans for Cobb County
Schools, facilitated Art teacher in-service meetings, and text book
adoptions. At Campbell & Lindley Middle she was a Building
Leadership Team-member and both Fine Arts team leader / subject area
coordinator for a decade.
With a focus on community partnerships Ms.
Collier-Johnston has been a volunteer art teacher for Georgia
Baptist Hospital, Egelston Children’s Hospital, and the Cobb County
Center for Children and Young Adults (Open Gate). She was voted
Teacher of the Year (1995) and received a Heart In Hand Volunteer
Award from the United Way/ Atlanta Journal & Constitution (2000).
She is a Georgia Challenge Grant Recipient, a Disney Teaching Award
nominee and honored by Who's Who Among American Teachers. Ms.Collier-Johnston
and her husband live in Smyrna with their puppy Jolie.
