Guidance Procedures
Counselors are available for parent and student appointments
to discuss academic planning, college and career questions,
personal/social issues, and more.
Students
Stop by guidance to see if your counselor is available or
make an appointment with her by speaking with Ms. Drago.
Parents
Please contact the guidance office to schedule a time to
meet with your child's counselor to ensure that the
counselor is available at a time that is convenient for you.
We meet with students and parents on a daily basis and we
want to make sure that you and your student's questions are
given the proper attention.
New student registration
is by appointment only.
Please call our registrar at the above number to schedule an appointment time.
All documentation must
be brought to enrollment for us to complete the registration
process.
Students will not be enrolled until all required
documentation is present.
Parent Teacher Conferences
Parents can request a
parent/teacher conference by contacting the teacher directly
and setting up a meeting time that is convenient for both
parties. For parents requesting conferences involving many
teachers, please contact your child’s counselor who will be
glad to coordinate a conference time for all parties
involved. Parents can reach
teachers
and counselors by email (firstname.lastname@cobbk12.org)
or by phone at (678) 494-7844 (school).
Work Permits new process!
Work permits can be applied for from a home computer with
internet connection.
1. Access the system via the following website:
www.dol.state.ga.us
2. Select the Child Labor Quick Link
3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and select
Online Work Permit
4. Select Minor
5. Enter personal information, verify accuracy and
click submit
6. Print a copy of the Work Permit Data Sheet to give
to your employer
Employers may complete their portion on-line at the same
website. If the employer does not have Internet access
or does not use the online process, then he/she must
complete the Data Sheet manually and return it to the minor.
The minor will then submit the Data Sheet to Kell High
School Guidance for completion of the work permit process.
Once it is dropped off at Kell, it will be ready for pick up
24 hours later. If a student does not have internet
access, he/she can pick up a paper application from the Kell
Guidance Office.
Official Transcript Requests
Students needing a copy of their official transcript must
fill out a records release form in guidance with our
registrar. The first official transcript is free; all
subsequent transcripts are $2.00 each. All students
applying to college will need to send an official transcript
to each college for admissions decisions. Once the
student decides on which college he/she will attend, he/she
will need to request that a final transcript must be sent
after graduation to finalize the enrollment process.
More information on this procedure will be given to the
senior class at the appropriate time. Official
transcripts are typically mailed from the guidance office to
the college; however, students can pick them up to send it
with their application package if so desired.
Official Records Requests
Records (such as immunizations for college or transfer
records to enroll at another high school) can be requested
at our registrar's desk. We cannot send SAT /ACT
scores. Please visit the respective test center's
website for information on sending official test scores.
I-Parent
Have you signed up for I-Parent? This
internet-based system allows parents to view their student's
current grades and attendance. Teachers update grades
at least every
10 days. Please contact the front office for more
information.
Homework Requests
A student must be absent for at least 3 days before homework
can be requested through guidance. Please allow 24 hours for our office to
retrieve the assignments once the request is made.
Assignments can be picked up in the guidance office at the
designated time agreed upon by the counselor and parent.
Homework will not be requested for unexcused absences.
For
students absent 10 days or more, hospital homebound can be
implemented to assist students with maintaining their
coursework, tests, quizzes, projects, etc., at home with a
teacher provided by the county. You must speak with
your counselor for more information about this program.

birthday. Plus, registration keeps you eligible for
