I have a concern with a
teacher. What should I do about it?
The Lovinggood protocol
is always to contact that teacher first.
Telephoning (678) 331-3015, faxing (678)
331-3016 or emailing are acceptable way to
contact the teacher. If your question
or concern is not answered adequately,
please contact
Mr. Salter (grade 6 and grade 7A) or
Mr. Golowich (grade 8 and grade 7B), the
grade level administrators, to schedule a
phone call back to you or to respond via
email.

Please explain the new
configuration with regards to language arts,
and how it impacts the grades I have just
received.
In 6th and 7th grades, students are taking
two language arts courses. One course,
Language Arts, focuses on performance
standards that address improving writing
skills. Students will analyze and edit their
own writing to include acceptable use of
basic conventions. They will also learn to
develop their own writing style.
The second course is Language Arts
Enrichment. This is a recently added course
in which students will engage in the study
and analysis of literature. Through the
introduction of different genres, we hope
that students will widen their range of
interest. Because Language Arts Enrichment
began on September 6, progress reports will
reflect a limited number of grades that have
been received.
I have a question about
school pictures. How can I be helped?
Lovinggood does not
handle questions at all about school
pictures. Simply go to

When are textbooks going
to be issued?
Lovinggood is aware of
parent concerns in this area. Due to
stocking problems at the County level, and
also due to delivery delays, some students
have not received their textbooks.
These issues are getting resolved, and
textbooks will be issued to students and/or
class sets will be available to teachers.

I want my child's
schedule moved. How can this be done.
It cannot. The
blanket policy at Lovinggood is to not
accept parent requests for scheduling
changes. To change a child's schedule
would create deleterious effects that could
ripple across the remainder of the child's
schedule as well as affecting other children
when additions/vacancies suddenly occur in
classrooms. In order to maintain
fairness to all and to avoid unnecessary
complexities in the overall school
scheduling, therefore, requests for changes
in students' schedules will be denied.

I want to stop by and
take my child out of school between 3:45 and 4:15. Is
this acceptable?
Actually, doing so
disrupts the educational process at an
especially sensitive time during the day.
Unless it is an emergency, or unless a note
is sent in to your child's homeroom
teacher in the morning, these requests will
be denied.

What if I want to visit
the school. May I?
Parents are certainly
welcome to visit during the day (after
registering first in the main office to
procure an I.D. badge, of course) after
9:30. In order to visit before
that time, parents must first have
established an appointment to see the
teacher or administrator. Parent
conferences are available at a mutually
agreed-upon time, but please do not disrupt
a teacher's class time unexpectedly.
Unless it is an emergency, parents are
requested to schedule an appointment with an
administrator with whom they wish to speak.
Please understand that at no time may
children younger than middle school age
visit the school during the day.

I have a child with a
medical condition. Should I let the school know?
Absolutely. All
medical information relevant to your child

In addition, it is very important that
procedures are strictly followed with
regards to medications.
Please reference the Cobb County School
District Administrative Rules.

students or interfere with learning. The Lovinggood dress code

administration reserves the right to determine the standards

Does Lovinggood have Advanced Learning
(gifted) or Advanced Content courses?
Advanced Content courses will be offered
for qualifying students in all grade levels. The specific
courses are determined after careful consideration of

constraints. It is our objective to provide all students an
academic experience that not only meets their needs, but also
maximizes their intellectual growth.
