The Cobb County School District’s high school magnet programs
provide opportunities for committed students to pursue an
advanced course of study in a specific focus area while earning
a college preparatory diploma. Magnet programs are coordinated
through the district’s Advanced Learning Programs Office, with
transportation for accepted students provided from specific
collector points. Magnet students in good standing are eligible
to participate in all school activities. Open House dates for
the individual magnets are listed with each program description
below, as well as on individual magnet websites. Prospective
students and their parents are encouraged to attend these
informational meetings.

Applications will be available at
the middle schools the first week in October and must be
postmarked on or before the first Friday in December of the
student’s 8th grade year.
Campbell High School International
Baccalaureate Program, founded in 1996, provides an
internationally recognized, challenging curriculum, resulting in
broad and deep preparation for university studies. Classroom
study in the core curriculum areas is extended by critical examination of
theories of knowledge, participation in community service, and
completion of an original research project. In addition to the
high school diploma, students are awarded an IB diploma after
successfully completing international exams in the six subject
areas.

Kennesaw Mountain High School Academy of Mathematics, Science,
and Technology features a broad-based accelerated
curriculum, with emphasis on geosciences (physics, astrophysics,
oceanography, environmental science, advanced mathematics, and
engineering technology). Students complete a senior research
project and field experience with a local professional practice,
industry, or institution of higher learning.

The North Cobb School for International
Studies’ primary goal is to provide an advanced
educational experience for students emphasizing the
development of global perspectives on politics, culture and
science. Additionally, students in the School for
International Studies will acquire leadership skills through
extracurricular activities, service learning and a culminating
senior project and presentation. Emphasis is placed on
participation in Advanced Placement® courses.

Pebblebrook High School Center for
Excellence in the Performing Arts was founded in 1988 for
students with exceptional talent in the arts. Its goal is to
develop and nurture talented young artists for successful
careers in the performing arts through extensive training
programs and classes in drama, dance, and vocal music while
maintaining high academic achievement. Applicants’ attendance,
academic record, behavior, and talent potential are
considerations for admittance to the Center.

South Cobb High School Academy of
Research and Medical Sciences focuses on opportunities in
medical sciences and scientific research. Students develop a
strong academic foundation in biological, chemical, and
physical sciences with an emphasis on research and the
application of mathematics and technology in medical science
and research. Students participate in a field experience
program utilizing the on-site medical lab/clinic and
complete coursework that culminates in a senior research
project. As seniors, students intern with a health
professional of their choosing or with a local practitioner
or an institution of higher education.

The Wheeler High School Center for Advanced
Studies in Science, Mathematics, and Technology began
operations in 2000. The Center's primary areas of emphasis are
engineering and medical biotechnology. Students will culminate
their studies with a senior internship and research experience
with universities, local practices, and industry partners.
