Ms. Angie Fenton Named Cobb County Teacher of the
Year!
The entire McClure community is proud of Ms.
Fenton's being named Cobb County Teacher of the
Year. The surprise announcement came today
during our Renaissance kick off celebration.
Marching drumlines from Kennesaw Mountain & Harrison
high schools, and a couple of red hot sports cars
helped usher in the big news. Feel free to
congratulate Ms. Fenton at
angela.fenton@cobbk12.org!

If you were not able to pick up your child's CRCT

Can You Lend a Hand for McClure?
If you are already a part of the McClure family, you
probably know that there are four words that drive all
we do: Enthusiasm, Excellence, Encouragement and
Ingenuity. If you are new to our family, we welcome you
and look forward to getting to know you in the upcoming
year. Our teachers and staff are the most enthusiastic
you will find as they encourage our students to excel
and to be the best they can be! They use ingenuity on a
daily basis in order to provide the best education
possible for our students. Before the end of the year we
asked our teachers what they might need to make the
08-09 school year even better. A wish list has been
created, and we would appreciate any support you, your
family or your business may be able to provide. Please
click
here to see the wish list and thank you in advance
for your support.

Summer Reading:
Did you know that students can lose up to one grade
level of reading skills over the summer months? The
McClure Summer Reading Challenge will ensure that
students are practicing this important skill in order to
maintain reading levels. Summer Reading will also help
students get an early start on meeting the Million Word
Georgia Performance Reading Standard. Every student
entering McClure for the 2008-09 school year is required
to read two to three books (300 – 450 pages) over the
summer months. The best part about this year’s summer
reading program is that students can choose ANY books
that interest them! A suggested list of authors is
provided on the
McClure
Summer Reading Challenge Brochure.
How will your teacher know what the student read? Each
of you should maintain a
Reading
Log, detailing what you've read, when you read it,
and what your thoughts were while reading. In addition,
each of you will present your favorite book as a
Book Talk upon
returning to school in August. Just remember to choose
books that are on your reading level (see your CRCT
scores for Lexile levels)! We also have provided you
with a
bookmark with lots of helpful advice on being a
successful Summer reader! Happy reading!
