All 5th grade students planning to attend Dodgen Middle School in the fall are invited to become a member of the Dodgen 6th Grade Beginning Band. Our total Band enrollment for grades 6,7, and 8 was over 400 students! This page is designed to keep you posted on important information as you plan ahead to become a band student. This page will be updated regularly to in order to provide the most current information.
Getting Started
New Dodgen band students sign up for band during the first week of each school year or you can complete the band pre-registration form if you have already made the decision to participate in band. Some like to get a head start by taking private lessons before the 6th grade year. No previous experience on a band instrument is required to join the 6th grade beginning band. Students will provide us with a list of three instruments they are most interested in studying. We will provide guidance in selecting the instrument which is most likely to provide the most positive musical experience over the 7 year course of study through the 12th grade. In most cases students will be able to pursue one of the three instruments from their list!
