TUBACHRISTMAS
Dear Dodgen Tuba and Euphonium Students,
The Annual TUBACHRISTMAS event will be held on December 5, 2008 at Underground Atlanta. Participating students will need to report to the Dodgen Band room no later than 7:00 AM on Friday, December 5th to load equipment. We will depart at 7:15 AM. Students will need to prepare the music given to them for this event. Students will wear their official Dodgen Band uniform PLUS a jacket to keep warm for this outdoor performance. After our arrival and registration, there will be several hours of rehearsal with the many hundreds of other participants, including high school, college, and adult performers! The performance will take place at 12:00 NOON on Upper Alabama Street and will be followed by lunch at the student's expense. We will depart Underground Atlanta at 2:20 PM for an estimated 3:00 PM arrival at Dodgen. due to space issues, all participants will be asked to leave their instrument case in their car. We will need several parents to volunteer as drivers and chaperones for this performance. Since we are dealing with Tuba and Euphonium instruments, a van would be preferable.
DRESS FOR THIS EVENT: Dodgen Band Uniform (Solid Black Pants, dress shoes, Dodgen band shirt, PLUS a warm coat since this is an outdoor performance.
7:00 AM - Arrive at Dodgen
Middle School near the bus entrance doors. This was the same area as our
cheesecake pick-up. Load instruments and students. Students should make sure
they eat something for breakfast prior to reporting at 7:00 AM.
7:15 AM - Depart Dodgen for Underground Atlanta
8:15 AM - Arrive Underground Atlanta
8:15 AM - Unload and move to registration area.
8:30 AM - Begin registration
9:30 AM - Begin Rehearsal
11:30 AM - Following Rehearsal, move to the performance area.
12:00 Noon - Begin Performance on Upper
Alabama Street
1:00 PM - End performance
1:15 PM - Immediately following the performance we will eat lunch in the food
court area. Students are responsible to bring money to purchase their lunch.
Students must stay with and eat with a parent chaperone. At no time are
students allowed to be on their own or to be in an area without a Band parent
chaperone.
2:15 PM - Finish lunch and load instruments and students for return trip to
Dodgen.
2:30 PM - Depart for Dodgen Middle School
3:00 PM - Arrive back at Dodgen Middle School. Students will attend their last
period class of the day.

PERMISSION FORM
My child, ______________________________________, has permission to attend the 2008 TUBACHRISTMAS performance on December 5, 2008. I understand that my child must report to Dodgen no later than 7:00 AM on December 5th. I understand that my child must wear their official Dodgen Band uniform PLUS a coat or jacket to keep warm for this outdoor performance. I understand that my child will need to bring funds to purchase lunch after the performance.
