000 Books/Generalities

Mrs. Reader then took them over to the beginning of the non-fiction books.

Dewey asked , "What is a 000 non-fiction book?

 

 

                                                

All non-fiction books are written about real things, people, events or places. 

A 000 non-fiction book can be an Almanac, Encyclopedia, or Newspaper.

The 000s are located to the right of the copy machine in the tall shelving against the wall.  They are filed numerically according to their Dewey Decimal subject and then alphabetically by the first 3 letters of the author's last name.

Huey asked if Dewey's father made up the Dewey system. 

Mrs. Reader said she did not think so since Mr. Melville Dewey

 developed it about 130 years ago!  They all giggled at the thought.
