Advanced Content

The Cobb County School District uses the Advanced Content Class as its delivery model for Gifted and Advanced Content service.  Students are homogeneously grouped on the basis of academic performance/achievement in a specific academic content area.  Classes include gifted and highly able students who have demonstrated exceptional ability and motivation in a particular content area as determined by local school criteria.

Curriculum: The Cobb County School district supports a differentiated curriculum for students receiving service in Advanced Content classes.  Advanced Content courses differ in pace and complexity and follow an approved curriculum.  Advanced Content courses are available in English/language arts, science, social studies, and foreign language (8th grade only).

Placement Criteria:  Students may be placed in Advanced Content classes based on multiple measures as indicated on the attached matrix.

Duke Tips

Hello Simpson Parents,

This year we are continuing our support of the Duke TIP Talent Search program for our 6th and 7th grade students. Participants in the Duke TIP talent search identify academic strengths, develops abilities and interests, and celebrate academic achievements. Additionally, some students will be eligible to take the ACT or SAT practice test while in the program. Duke TIP also provides a number of beneficial programs and seminars for the selected students. If you have any additional questions please reach out to our school counselors or come pick up a brochure from the front office.

Thank you for all your support and hard work!

Best Regards,
