Mableton Elementary students are working hard to improve their writing skills. To practice descriptive writing skills, Ms. Bryant's 2nd grade class joined the Monster Exchange Internet project and collaborated with a 2nd grade class from Campus School in Memphis, Tennessee.

Each student in the two classes wrote a description of a monster and drew a picture of his/her monster. Each student was assigned a partner from the other class. The partners exchanged their monster descriptions via email. The students were challenged to read the description and draw an accurate picture of the monster based on the description.

The descriptions and the monster pictures were posted on the web for all to see. It is amazing how similar some of the partner's pictures are! Have a look at the monster gallery here.
