Vamos Chicos is coming to our school with their Eco-Arts Bus. They are introducing their program, Adventures into Spanish, which is a unique hands-on approach to learning Spanish in a fun way. It's a fusion of arts and science in a converted bus. The projects include Eco-Arts which involves using recycled materials and items from nature. The classes are open to all levels of Spanish and grades K-5, and are in a small ratio setting for the afterschool program. The program is Hands-on Spanish mixed with project-based learning, and taught by a native Spanish speaker. Space is limited to 12. Information is available at VamosChicos.com

Vamos Chicos will start on Wednesday, September 6th with two classes: one from 3:00-3:55; one from 4:05-5:00. The cost for a 13-week course is $215.

Chess2Children is back for another great year of chess at Smyrna ES!  Playing chess has proven to help students enhance their creativity, improve their power of concentration, develop and expand critical thinking skills, boost memory and retention, and achieve superior academic performance. Additionally, chess has been shown to augment problem-solving capabilities, provide cultural enrichment, advance intellectual maturity, and enhance self-esteem… qualities that we all desire for our children.

Chess club will meet Tuesdays from 3:30-4:30 PM
