Magnet Program Information
The magnet school coordinator will be coming to Tapp on
September 17th at 1pm to meet with students. Parents interested
in the magnet program are invited attend.

Cobb County Schools are teaming up with the Cobb County Public Library and Scholastic to help encourage summer
reading. Students will go to www.scholastic.com/summer and log in the number of
minutes they read. We encourage students to read at least 20 minutes each day. Students were provided with a username and
password to login and record their minutes. There is also information for parents and weekly sweepstakes.

State School Student Advisory Council
State School Superintendent Richard Woods is seeking middle and high school students to serve on his fall 2015 Student
Advisory Council. These students will meet with Superintendent Woods to discuss the impact of state policies
in the classroom, along with other issues related to education, and will serve as the Superintendent’s
ambassadors to their respective schools.

- Selected students will be contacted via email. All students can check gadoe.org, under News & Announcements, on September 11 to see if they have been selected.
Middle school students will meet September 28, November 9, and March 28. High school students will meet October 1, November 12, and March 31. The Student Advisory Council will also have two virtual meetings. Details on times and dates will be discussed at the first meeting.
OneHarvest Food Ministries
OneHarvest offers food boxes for $20 to $46 each month. Powder
Springs First United Methodist Church is the distribution point
for the food boxes. For September, please place your order by
September 9th for the pickup day of Saturday, September 19th
from 11am to 12pm. You may call the church on Wednesdays between
the hours of 5pm-7pm at 770-943-5130 or order online at
