Cobb Student Leadership Academy

Tapp Middle School hosted the District’s 1st Cobb Student Leadership Academy, winner of Cobb Tank 2016. The advisors, Jerald Robinson and Semeka Samuels designed a leadership training conference this summer (June 5-8 & June 12-15, 2017) that hosted participants from 6th and 7th grade.  1st Cobb Student Leadership Academy is comprised of a diverse group of over 36 students. The first week the students participated in engaging activities which were designed to teach the qualities of a great leader, the meaning of teamwork, and how to analyze situations and set S.M.A.R.T. goals around the focus of improving Tapp Middle School and the surrounding community. The participants assessed the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats that surround Tapp Middle School and developed project ideas to improve the school for the upcoming school year. During the second week of the academy students were divided into groups and paired with a mentor teacher
who will assist them during the implementation of their projects.
