The Cobb County School District is partnering again with Cobb and Smyrna Public Libraries for our Summer Reading Challenge! This year we challenge all students to read and log at least 1,500 minutes using Biblionasium. All K-8 students already have Biblionasium accounts and can log in with their student number and school computer password.

Reading throughout the summer for at least 20 minutes a day helps students maintain learning gains made in school and starts the upcoming new school year off right. These resources can help:

CCSD Library Media Education: Visit www.cobbsummerreading.com for reading resources, ebooks, reading suggestions, and links to learning resources, such as the Cobb Digital Library.

Cobb and Smyrna Public Libraries: Visit www.cobbcat.org/srp for more information about summer reading programming.  Students can attend summer reading events and win prizes. Be sure to mark your calendars for the Summer Reading Kickoff on May 25th at the Cobb Civic Center in Marietta.  City of Smyrna residents may attend the Smyrna Summer Reading Kickoff on May 24th.  www.smyrnaga.gov/your-government/departments/smyrna-public-library

Biblionasium: All K-8 students Cobb students have direct access to log minutes at www.biblionasium.com/summerreading. Use your student number and school computer password to log in. If prompted, enter the state of Georgia and your school.

The Summer Reading Challenge begins May 13th and ends August 16th.

For help with your username and password, please call CCSD Customer Care at 770-514-2500, Monday through Thursday 7:30 am to 5:00 pm from May 27th to July 31st.

Dr. Shannon McGill

Dear Timber Ridge Family,

I am honored and excited to be the next principal of Timber Ridge Elementary School!  As a former Timber Ridge administrator, I have enjoyed seeing Timber Ridge continue to stand out in Cobb and in the State.  As your principal, my goal is to build upon this success as we partner together to provide the very best education for our students.

Next year will be my 25th year serving in the Cobb County School District, and 14th year as a school administrator.  For the last seven years, I have been the principal of Vaughan Elementary School.  Prior to that, I was an assistant principal at Timber Ridge and Powers Ferry and served as an assistant administrator at Ford.  I have 11 years of classroom experience which include teaching second grade at Ford and Vaughan and teaching in the Advanced Learning Program at Mt. Bethel and Cheatham Hill.

I am a product of the Cobb County School District and received my bachelor’s and master's degrees from the University of Georgia. I received my specialist’s degree from Georgia State University and earned a Ph.D. in School Supervision and Administration from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2011.

On a personal note, I reside in Sandy Springs and love cheering on the Braves and Georgia Bulldogs! I enjoy traveling, especially to the beach, and I am always planning my next trip. I love spending time outdoors and playing tennis as often as I can. I also enjoy being an adjunct professor at Kennesaw State University and an educational leadership coach at Berry College.

It is a privilege to serve the talented Timber Ridge students and staff. Together, we will do amazing things and I am proud to be a Timber Wolf once again! I look forward to meeting all of you in the coming months and beginning our journey together!
