Is Your Junior Prepared?
The Georgia High School Graduation Tests are scheduled for March 22-25, 2010. Passing these tests is one requirement for graduation. Please send your students to Learning Links, Monday - Thursday and on Saturday from 10:00-noon for reviews. Please refer to the GHSGT Link for the GHSGT Learning Links schedule and resources.

Did you know the Georgia High School Graduation Test (GHSGT) English Language Arts (ELA) score can exempt a student from additional placement testing at many of Georgia’s colleges and universities?
The Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) and the University System of Georgia (USG) have agreed to accept the Advanced Proficiency or Honors performance level on the ELA GHSGT as an indication of a student’s readiness to be placed in credit-bearing English courses.

What Does this Mean?
Students who achieve the Advanced Proficient or Honors performance level on the ELA GHSGT may not need additional placement testing to determine if learning support is needed upon enrollment at many of Georgia’s colleges and universities. This is not a guarantee of admission, but rather serves as a signal that the student is ready to perform at the postsecondary level when admitted.

TCSG has agreed to accept the ELA GHSGT Advanced Proficiency performance level as its system minimum requirement for all certificate and diploma programs.

USG has agreed to accept the ELA GHSGT Advanced Proficiency performance level as its system minimum.

Students should check with individual institutions for additional information on admissions and placement requirements.
