    Search by author or title.  Literary criticism books will have call numbers in the 800s.  Find the book and look for your specific theme, character, etc. in the index.

    Click on ADVANCED SEARCH and enter the title on one line and the theme, symbol, character, etc. on the next.  For example, enter "grapes of wrath" on one line and "communism" on the next.
  • Literary Reference Center [GALILEO] (citation help)
    Literary Criticism, author bios, full-text articles, poems and short stories.  Click on ADVANCED SEARCH then select FULL TEXT.
  • Literature Resource Center [WL] 
    Click on ADVANCED SEARCH and enter the title on one line and the theme, symbol, character, etc. on the next.  For example, enter "color purple" on one line and choose "Title - All words."  Enter "shug" on the next line and choose "keyword."  Be sure to check for results under each tab (Biography, Literary Criticism, etc.).
