Daniell Middle School has been a part of the Cobb County School District for 44 years and counting. Throughout this time our learning community has seen much change and has been a part of many accomplishments. Having recently been named as a Georgia School of Excellence, Daniell Middle School has raised the bar for the standard in innovative educational programs. With a dedicated teaching, administrative, and support staff on board and with a committed School Council, PTSA, and Partners in Education, students are destined to excel. Optimum student performance in a safe, multicultural learning environment with systematic and data-driven interventions for students who need additional assistance to master standards coupled with flexible grouping based on ongoing diagnosis and formative assessment to enhance student learning place Daniell Middle School among Georgia’s finest middle school programs. Daniell Middle School’s teachers use a variety of research-based instructional strategies shown to produce the highest percentile gains when used consistently with students. In addition, our teachers provide differentiated instruction and adjustment of content, product, process and/or learning environment to students according to their needs. This approach focuses on teaming, student performance, motivation and higher levels of adult advocacy, richer student-teacher relationship building, the empowerment of students, teachers, and parents to take a more active role in the experiences offered in schools, and curriculum articulation across grade level. Defined by the Georgia Department of Education’s Georgia Keys, our school is designed around eight domains or standards: Curriculum Assessment Instruction Planning and Organization Student, Family, and Community Professional Learning Leadership School Culture This year we are focusing our efforts on improving the four domains of Instruction, Student, Family, and Community, Professional Learning, and Leadership. Our detailed plan of action for each of these domains can be found in our Areas of Focus 2008 on our website. It is our belief when all eight domains are engaged and fully operational that Daniell Middle School will become a world-class school which both the Cobb County School District and the citizens of Cobb County will be proud.
