     J. Milton Lewis Elementary School exists for the purpose of serving the academic, social, emotional and physical needs of the children in a safe, nurturing, caring environment where democracy, good citizenship, and moral values are recognized as an integral part of the program that allows them to progress at their own rate of skill development and growth, yet challenges them to achieve their maximum. The end result of our efforts should be to prepare our students to meet, with high purpose and effectiveness, their responsibilities as citizens in a global society.

Dear Lewis Families,

It brings me great pleasure to welcome you to another exciting school year full of adventure and endless possibilities!  I am the new kid on the block here at Lewis, however, I am not new Cobb County or to the Lewis community.  I am already amazed by the incredible, dedicated staff here and look forward to providing the leadership necessary to continue Lewis’ reputation for excellence. 

 Our theme for the year will revolve around a book called The Fred Factor.  In this short, easy to read book, author Mark Sanborn tells of a mail carrier, Fred, who passionately loves his job and genuinely cares about the people he serves.  Fred goes the extra mile and seeks opportunities to make a difference in the lives of others.  This book teaches 4 simple steps to transform our own lives from the ordinary to the extraordinary!  In the coming months via “The Lion’s Roar” newsletter, I will be sharing the Fred Principles with you.  Also, each Lewis staff member received this book during preplanning.  As a staff, we will study the Fred Principles and look for ways to go the extra mile here at Lewis and in the community!
