July 2008
Dear 7th or 8th Grade Student:
Greetings from the faculty and staff at McCleskey Middle School. We hope your summer has been a fun and relaxing one and that you are eagerly anticipating the start of another school year. We are looking forward to your arrival on the first day of school Monday August 11, 2008.
For students new to McCleskey, registration day is scheduled for Tuesday, July 29, 2008 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Please share this important information with any new McCleskey students who have just moved into your neighborhood.
An important date for you to remember is Thursday, August 7. Meet and Greet for 7th & 8th grade students and their parents is scheduled from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm. During this time, you and your parents are invited to do the following:
Check your homeroom location so you know where to report on the first day of school.
Check your bus number so you will know your pickup time in the morning and learn your lane number for boarding in the afternoon.
***Homeroom and bus information will be posted in the gym***
At orientation, you and your parents will also have the opportunity to join PTSA and make a donation in lieu of any PTSA fundraising activities. We ask for a $35 dollar donation per student or $60 dollars for families with multiple students at McCleskey. We also encourage all of our parents & students to join PTSA. Membership is $5 dollars per person. With one check made out to McCleskey PTSA, a parent can purchase multiple PTSA memberships as well as make a donation, which ensures that there are no PTSA sponsored fundraising events.
We have 6th grade orientation scheduled for 4:00 so we do ask that all students leave the building and campus by 4:00.
I am extremely proud of our rising 7th grade and 8th grade students and how you performed academically last year – we will continue the tradition of excellence during the 2008-09 school year. I look forward to working with you and your parents to ensure that all students are moving forward academically. Please visit our website at www.cobbk12.org for updates.
Sincerely,
Dr. Chris Richie
