The  Book of the Month Club was started last year at Nicholson to promote our School Improvement Goal of helping students to become better writers.  The books were picked because they demonstrate many of the traits of good writing that our students, from Kindergarten through Fifth Grade, are studying this year:  Ideas, Organization, Voice, Word Choice, Sentence Fluency, and Conventions.  They also provide a means for teaching across the curriculum as the teachers will be using the books as a starting place for lessons in writing, reading, mathematical problem solving, social studies, science, environmental awareness and technology.  We hope you enjoy discussing the stories in our Cosmic Collection with your children.
