Welcome to Riverside Primary and Riverside Intermediate School. We are delighted that you have selected to have your child attend a school where the members of the learning community promote high academic achievement for all students. In our school community, the staff works collaboratively with all stakeholders to continuously improve student learning. As a result, we are delighted to share with you the following news:

With the passing of SPLOST II and the tremendous growth in the community, the Cobb County Board of Education voted to reorganize Riverside Elementary into a school-within-a school. To this end, two principals were assigned to the school. One principal serves students in kindergarten through second grade and the other principal serves students in third through fifth grade. This school year, the members from both schools will work collaboratively to continue the school improvement initiatives that have successfully facilitated student learning.

The principal for Riverside Primary is Doris Billups‑McClure. Entering her fifteenth year as a principal, she received her Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. While serving as principal at Riverside, she helped to move student achievement and helped to narrow the achievement gap for students attending the school. This is the second consecutive school year that the school has made Annual Yearly Progress under the No Child Left Behind Law.

The principal for Riverside Intermediate School is Selena Andrews. Quickly approaching her twenty-ninth year in the field of education. Selena comes to Riverside from Argyle Elementary School. She served as principal of Argyle Elementary School for five years before being assigned to Riverside Intermediate. She received her Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership from Jacksonville State University. Under her leadership, the students at Argyle also made Annual Yearly Progress for two consecutive years.

We are committed to advancing student learning to the next level. We have a supportive staff that share the beliefs that we have about teaching and learning. As we prepare for another successful school year, we seek your support to help us continue narrowing the achievement gap. Our school goals are:

v Students will demonstrate increased proficiency in reading comprehension.

v Students will demonstrate increased proficiency in math problem solving.

v All stakeholders will work together to ensure academic and behavioral success for all students.
