Civil War Living History Museum
On the evening of November 6th, the fifth grade classes at Vaughan participated in a Civil War Living History Museum. After researching and reading about such characters as Robert E. Lee, Emma Edmonds, and Abraham Lincoln, the students "became" the characters and spoke to us from the past; giving 1st person accounts of important events in our history. Complete with costumes common of that era and realistic props, the students helped us to make the connections between past and present day America. At the November PTSA meeting, the fifth graders then presented their speeches, and the History museum came alive in front of our eyes! We all learned so much about the people and personalities of the Civil War. Great job fifth graders!
